We decided fairly soon to try to get some of our regular customers who we knew were not only knowledgeable but also passionate about gardening to become the Mentors for the families, so they become the teachers not me or my staff so much. So far we have signed on two Mentors and they come down to the allotments when they can usually after school finishes and just wait to see if any families come to visit. They offer a different way of teaching and different ideas which is great.
We are trying to become sustainable and have use the worm pee for feeding also the comfrey tea which has wonderful qualities with heaps of natural potash for the fruiting plants and vegetable.
So far we haven't had to deal with bugs too much and encourage the families to use digital prevention i.e. squash with their fingers.
